India’s Ministry of Education hosted a special session titled “Pushing the Frontier of AI in India” at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi on 17 February 2026. The session was part of the larger summit that brought together global leaders, policymakers, researchers and technology experts to discuss how artificial intelligence can transform different sectors of society. The focus was especially on how AI can reshape education in meaningful ways.

The session was attended by Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan and Minister of State for Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary. Both leaders spoke about India’s growing commitment toward integrating AI into classrooms, universities and skill development institutions. They highlighted that AI is not just about advanced industries but it is also about empowering students and teachers in everyday learning environments.

Over the past few years, the ministry has been building digital infrastructure and encouraging innovation through collaborations with universities, startups and industry partners. The discussions at the summit showed how these efforts are slowly moving from policy discussions to practical implementation that could impact millions of learners across the country.

A major theme of the session was aligning AI initiatives with the goals of the National Education Policy 2020 and the broader Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. Speakers stressed that technology adoption must be responsible and inclusive, ensuring that no student is left behind. They pointed out that strong governance frameworks and ethical AI practices is necessary for long term success.

Education leaders also clarified that AI is meant to assist teachers, not replace them. The idea is to make classrooms more interactive and personalised while still keeping the human touch at the center of education.
