After the accomplishment of the Chandrayaan-3 lunar exploration mission, India was elevated to an elite league of countries by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), which has its headquarters in Bengaluru.
India made history by being the first nation to successfully land a spacecraft close to the south pole of the Moon. From 2018 to 2022, Dr. Sivan oversaw ISRO and was in charge of the organization's Chandrayaan-2 mission, which was launched on July 22, 2019.
Prof. Suhas Joshi, the director of IIT Indore, expressed his happiness and excitement at having Dr. Sivan, a graduate of IISc Bangalore and IIT Bombay, serve as the board of governors chairman.
The successful launch of Chandrayaan-3 by India, which demonstrated its engineering skill and experience in space, was the ideal opportunity to welcome him into the IIT Indore family.
According to Pro Joshi, IIT Indore has launched 10 new academic programmes this academic year, including a BTech in Space Science and Engineering curriculum, making it the first IIT in the nation to offer it.
He said that the programme can accommodate 20 students, including 4 girls. I believe that by working in the underdeveloped fields of space engineering under Dr. Sivan's direction, IIT Indore will have the chance to support the nation's space mission.
