IIM Bangalore launches a three-year online BBA in Digital Business and Entrepreneurship. Apply by June 15 for a course combining digital tech, business manageme
The Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B) has started an online undergraduate degree in Digital Business and Entrepreneurship. The deadline to apply for this course at IIM Bangalore is June 15.
In order to prepare leaders for the digital business environment, the three-year Bachelor of Business Administration in Digital company and Entrepreneurship (BBA DBE) degree merges digital technology, company management, and entrepreneurship.
The programme focuses on digital tactics and entrepreneurial methods, including live seminars, coaching, and hands-on projects to get practical experience. The college intends to launch the course with about 1000 pupils. The plan comprises around 60 courses, which will be overseen by more than 50 academic members.
This initiative also seeks to provide equitable chances for potential learners from various backgrounds and areas, allowing them to continue with their existing activities without having to relocate or disturb their life. This first-of-its-kind course mixes digital and in-person contacts to foster community and professional development in a dynamic setting. While the course is primarily digital, students are required to sit for a proctored examination at their individual examination centres.
Prof Rishikesha T Krishnan, director of IIM Bangalore said that programme is set to begin from September 2024. “The online undergraduate programme will help students gain the expertise to develop and implement strategies for businesses in the digital age, gain knowledge about the latest digital technologies, identify business opportunities and make strategic decisions that drive business growth. Our programme focuses on practical learning, enabling students to tackle real-world business challenges and develop innovative solutions,” said Krishnan.
IIM-B also launched the programme in order to address the decline in Gross Enrollment Ratio in higher education (27.1 per cent) which is relatively low compared to developed countries. “This (low GER) indicates that a significant portion of the youth needs to engage in higher education. Many young people need access to industry-ready and contemporary educational programs in their neighborhoods and are not in a position to migrate to cities for education. This online BBA program addresses this gap by providing accessible education that students can pursue from anywhere,” said Krishnan.
Students with a pass certificate of any recognized class 10, 12th board or equivalent with A minimum of 60 per cent marks or equivalent Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) in recognized board exams for general category and NC-OBC & EWS category candidates.
Meanwhile, SC, ST, and PwD (>= 40% disability) applicants must have 55% marks or an equivalent CGPA.
Currently, only Indian nationals are eligible for the initiative.
Candidates will be chosen based on the Online Qualifier Test aptitude-based test and their Class 12 results.
The course is a one-year certificate in digital business and entrepreneurship with 22 modules, 45 credits, and a price of Rs 1.25 lakh. Meanwhile, the two-year diploma degree comprises 21 courses and 45 credits, with a price of Rs 1.50 lakh. The three-year degree comprises 17 courses totaling 45 credits and costs Rs 1.75 lakh.
