IIT Delhi Introduces Executive Programme in Robotics

A five-month Executive Programme in Robotics has been introduced by the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) with the goal of equipping working people with the abilities and information needed to succeed in the robotics industry. Over 120 hours of online instruction, the curriculum covers the foundations of robotics, including sensors, mechanical parts, and artificial intelligence (AI).

By utilising the most recent advancements in robotics technology, this programme has been created to adapt to the ever-changing demands of automation. In addition, it provides working professionals with a blend of technical know-how and managerial insights to help them become productive leaders and foster growth. The course will be given directly to devices (D2D) using the Interactive Learning (IL) platform.

Arnab Chanda, professor, IIT Delhi said, “Robotics and AI are transforming industries all over the world. The impact of robotics can be seen in various fields such as manufacturing, medicine, logistics, agriculture, defence, and more. To keep up with the technological advancements in this field, IIT Delhi’s Executive Programme in Robotics is a unique opportunity for professionals, engineers or entrepreneurs. This programme provides learners with a comprehensive understanding of the latest advancements in robot design, control systems, and AI.”

Biswarup Mukherjee, professor, IIT Delhi said, “The programme in robotics offers more than just traditional classroom teaching. Participants will receive hands-on experience and exposure to real-world applications of robotics technology. This programme enables them to create robotic devices from scratch, implement programming, and effectively utilise the operating system. It is a significant aspect of learning, equipping participants with practical knowledge and skills.”

The robotics market size has been estimated at USD 45.85 billion in 2024 and is expected to reach USD 95.93 billion by 2029, growing at a CAGR of 15.91% during the forecast period (2024-2029). According to a report by Forbes, AI and Robotics are being increasingly used in various industries such as manufacturing, medicine, and hospitality. Innovation in these fields has led to the development of robots that can be employed in hazardous projects or at construction sites, where human involvement could be risky. A LinkedIn report reveals that the use of robotics has increased efficiency and has reduced errors, leading to a harmonious relationship between humans and robots.
