The Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT Indore) annually awards scholarships to students with disabilities, with some scholarships providing direct benefit transfers to students' bank accounts or reductions in college fees.
The National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC) offers two scholarship programs for students with disabilities: the Scholarships Scheme (Trust Fund) and the Scholarships Scheme (National Fund).
The Trust Fund scheme provides 2000 scholarships for degree and postgraduate level professional and technical courses from recognized institutions in India, with 30% reserved for girls.
Applicants can apply at any time in the academic year and receive scholarships quarterly. The National Fund scheme offers 500 scholarships for higher academic/professional or technical qualifications, with applicants applying online.
The Trust Fund scheme offers scholarships of Rs 1,000 per month for hostellers and Rs 700 per month for day scholars studying in professional courses at graduation and above level, and Rs 700 per month for hostellers and Rs 400 per month for day scholars pursuing Diploma/Certificate level professional courses. Course fees are reimbursed up to a ceiling of Rs 10,000 per year.
Financial assistance is provided for computers with editing software for blind/deaf graduates and post graduate students pursuing professional courses, and support access software for cerebral palsy students.
The National Fellowship and Scholarship For Higher Education of Scheduled Tribe Students aims to provide financial assistance to deserving Scheduled Tribe students to enable them to pursue higher education after completing their post-graduate degree.
Eligibility requirements include post-graduation and admission in universities covered under the category, as well as a minimum of 55% marks at the final examination/grading at the PG level. Scholarship holders under these schemes cannot concurrently hold any other scholarship/stipend.
