IIT Kanpur Introduces Fellowship for PhD Excellence

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) announced the opening of the Fellowship for Academic and Research Excellence (FARE) in order to identify and assist excellent PhD students who have extraordinary academic and research talents. The goal of this fellowship is to support high-caliber research output while encouraging the prompt completion of PhD studies.

The application process is now accessible to full-time PhD students currently enrolled at IIT Kanpur who submit their thesis within five years after starting the PhD programme. Students who write their thesis within five years and six months are also eligible, although the fellowship period will be changed accordingly. Eligibility criteria include at least one accepted or published research paper as first author in a reputable journal or conference proceedings that is directly related to their PhD study. Students starting in 2018 are eligible for the fellowship.

The fellowship provides financial support for up to 12 months, including a salary comparable to that of the Institute’s Post-Doctoral Fellows and extra research-related funding. The existing thesis supervisor will continue to function as mentor, but collaboration with other faculty members during the fellowship time is strongly encouraged.

The FARE Fellowship is an important move by IIT Kanpur to help its students achieve their academic and research goals. It recognizes and provides concrete support to those who achieve academically and make significant contributions to their field of study. IIT Kanpur welcomes qualified PhD candidates to apply and improve their research careers with this chance.
