IIT Roorkee to Conduct GATE 2025: New Website Launched

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee will be conducting the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) in 2025. Today, IIT Roorkee, the organising institute, unveiled the GATE 2025 website.

The new website is gate2025.iitr.ac.in.

GATE 2025 will be a computer-based test (CBT) and will be jointly held by IISc Bengaluru and seven IITs (IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee). The exam will be held on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GoI).

The 3-hour exam will have a total of 30 test papers comprising full papers and sectional papers. The sections will be General Aptitude (GA) and candidate’s chosen subjects. In the candidate’s selected subjects, questions will be of various types, including MCQs, Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) and/or Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.

For every wrong answer selected in MCQ, there will be negative marking. For a 1-mark MCQ that is wrong, 1/3 mark will be deducted. For a 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. There is no negative marking for wrong answer(s) to MSQ or NAT questions. There is also no partial marking in MSQ.

Last year, GATE 2024 was held on February 3, 4, 10, and 11. The response sheets were released on February 15, and answer key, question papers were issued on February 19. The result of GATE 2024 was released on March 16.

GATE is a national-level entrance examination for admission to PG programmes and entry to PSUs, that essentially assesses candidates’ understanding of undergraduate subjects in domains such as Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science/Commerce/Arts/Humanities.
