The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee's Centre of Excellence in Disaster Mitigation and Management recently unveiled BhuDEV, an earthquake early warning app, to enhance the safety and resilience of Uttarakhand inhabitants in the face of seismic hazards using technology.
BhuDEV, named “Bhukamp Disaster Early Vigilantè,” will serve as a cornerstone in the arsenal of tools to safeguard communities. Through its suite of meticulously designed features, the app will empower users with real-time earthquake alerts, ensuring timely responses to seismic events, informed the institute.
Furthermore, the platform offers educational resources, curated by experts, to enhance users’ understanding of earthquake preparedness and response strategies.
With instant access to emergency assistance via the app’s intuitive interface, BhuDEV is seen as a lifeline during times of crisis.
Powered by the IIT Roorkee’s advanced seismic sensors and cutting-edge data analysis, BhuDEV delivers real-time earthquake warnings directly to users’ smartphones, ensuring timely responses in moments of crisis.
According to the institute, BhuDEV’s SOS button provides immediate access to assistance, enabling users to notify trusted contacts and authorities about their precise location with a single tap. As users navigate through the app, they gain valuable insights to enhance their earthquake preparedness and response strategies.
