Lovely Professional University (LPU) secures 9th place in India's top universities according to THE World University Rankings 2025, surpassing IITs and NITs. LP
According to the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2025, Lovely Professional University (LPU) has advanced significantly, taking ninth place among all of India's best universities. This accomplishment encompasses both private universities and government establishments, including IITs and NITs.
LPU's ascent from 25th place to the top 10 last year is a testament to its dedication to quality in academics, research, entrepreneurship, diversity, infrastructure, and innovation. The university's ranking in the 601–800 range on a global scale represents a significant improvement over the previous year.
LPU has surpassed a number of esteemed universities, such as Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), the University of Delhi, numerous NITs, and the IITs at Guwahati, Ropar, Gandhinagar, and Mandi.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU, stated that we are tremendously proud of this achievement. LPU hopes to bridge educational disparities and become one of India's top three universities in the near future.
This ranking evaluates institutions according to five major categories: Teaching: the learning environment; research: the volume, income, and reputation of research; research quality: the impact, strength, excellence, and influence of research; International outlook: Staff, students, research, and industry sector income and patents.
LPU was also ranked among the top 200 universities worldwide in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2024. In terms of quality education, LPU has a stunning global ranking of 19 and is India's second-highest ranked university, among both government and private universities.
LPU's outstanding performance in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (2025) reflects its unwavering pursuit of excellence and commitment to provide a transformative educational experience for its students. The university's commitment to research, innovation, and industrial relevance has established it as a premier institution in India and around the world.
