About 100 institutions affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) have received show-cause letters from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) due to their lack of accreditation. It has been discovered that 40 to 42 colleges have never even attempted an NAAC assessment. As a result, sanctions are probably coming for the SPPU-affiliated colleges in the Pune, Ahmednagar, and Nashik districts.

The Higher Education Department of the Maharashtra government has firmly supported NAAC accreditation for all of the state's colleges. Chandrakant Patil, the state's minister of higher and technical education, also met with the vice chancellors of every university to stress the significance of assessing affiliated colleges.
Additionally, it was mandated that education officers notify the colleges that had not finished the pending NAAC assessment within three days. As a result, SPPU gathered data from connected colleges and put it together in a report.
Forty to forty-two SPPU-affiliated colleges have never undergone an NAAC evaluation. Only a small number of institutions skipped the second or third step of review. The university will therefore take the proper steps against these colleges. Parag Kalkar, the pro-vice chancellor of SPPU, added that the process of ending affiliation would also start with an examination of the legal issues raised by SPPU authorities.
All colleges are expected to take the NAAC assessment in order to comply with the National Education Policy (NEP) implementation and to offer students a high-quality education. In accordance with the Universities Act's rules, if the colleges fail to conduct the NAAC evaluation, the universities may revoke their affiliation with the relevant institutions.
