NCERT has introduced its revamped Class 8 math textbook, Ganita Prakash, designed to transform math education into an interactive and relatable experience. This new edition aligns with the National Education Policy 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023, focusing on launching practical learning into the classroom.

Importance of Ganita Prakash include:
• Everyday Contexts: Students are encouraged which relate math to daily life like exploring the measurements includes in crafting a cup of coffee or how a carpenter would use math to construct a rectangular frame.
• Engaging Thought Experiments: Fun hypothetical inspires such as, “How many times would you need to fold a paper to reach the moon?” introduce students to large numbers and imaginative problem solving.
• Patterns & Heritage: The textbook invites learners to spot intriguing patterns, like the difficult Ramanujan number 1729, while also celebrating India’s rich mathematical heritage with references to Aryabhatta, Brahmagupta, and others.
• Curiosity Mark (‘?’ Indicator): A unique “?” symbol is used to trigger inquiry bold for major questions and regular for follow-ups to spark curiosity and deeper thought.
