Medical counselling committee invites NRI quota conversion applications for NEET PG 2025 seats.
For many postgraduate medical aspirants, the latest update may bring a sigh of relief the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has issued a notice inviting applications for converting their status to the Non Resident Indian (NRI) category in the context of the NEET PG 2025 counselling process. This means candidates who qualified the exam and now wish to apply under the NRI quota must send their NEET PG admit card, proof of NRI status of parent/relative, passports or visa/work permits, and other required documents via e-mail by the deadline of 12 pm on October 28, 2025.
What makes this important is: NRI quota seats often follow different rules and may have different fee structures, sponsorship requirements, and seat availability. Candidates previously in the “Indian resident category” may now convert to NRI if they fulfil the criteria which opens up possibilities but also adds complexity.
Consider what this means for someone: you’ve done your MBBS, done your internship, cleared NEET PG; now you are analysing whether to go under Indian resident quota or try NRI category. The documents are many a valid passport of the sponsor, embassy certificate, affidavit that sponsor will pay the fees and living expenses, relationship proof (family tree), and so on.
The window being open means stakeholders (students, parents, colleges) need to act quickly. But it also raises questions about fairness, transparency and whether all aspirants have equal access and clarity about the process. Because it’s not just one form there’s verification, timelines, categories, and conditions. In the end, it’s a process that could change the game for many but also one that demands careful attention.
