CBSE unveils detailed sample paper for 2026 Economics board exam students get early insights.
New CBSE sample paper

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has dropped a key resource for Class 12 students: a complete sample paper for the 2026 board exam in Economics. This move comes alongside the announcement of the February 17 start date for board exams for both Class 10 and 12.

The sample paper isn’t your typical “guess the questions” sheet. It’s designed to mirror the new exam pattern, question types, and marking scheme all in one document. Topics taking the spotlight include economic reforms, globalisation, sustainable development and regional economic groupings.

Why does this matter? For one, students now have a realistic rehearsal of what to expect. The board is encouraging learners to study these sample papers carefully, to understand how the curriculum material translates into questions. Moreover, the inclusion of topics like the NEP-2020, public investment in education, and global economic alliances reflect how the syllabus is adapting to a broader, more integrated world context.

It’s also a signal that CBSE is trying to level the playing field. By publishing detailed sample papers early, the board gives students time to familiarise themselves with the format, reduce exam anxiety and plan their revision accordingly.

Still, this isn’t a magical shortcut. Experts say students must go beyond just “doing the sample paper” they should analyse the pattern, understand underlying concepts (like special economic zones, or the role of agriculture in economic structure), and practise writing thoughtfully. The sample includes questions that ask for justification, critique and explanation not just recall.

For teachers, this is a handy compass: because the sample outlines what kind of depth and format the board expects, educators can fine-tune lesson plans, mock tests and revision sessions accordingly.

What’s next? Students should download the sample paper, attempt it under timed conditions, review mistakes, and use it to guide their revision calendar. With the exams nearing, integrating sample-paper drills with concept revision is a smart move.

In short: it’s a welcome tool, but its impact depends on how students and teachers engage with it. The sample paper shows the path now each learner has to walk it.
