National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli admissions for 2026 are conducted through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (Joint Seat Allocation Authority), which has been established by the Ministry of Education to manage a unified counselling process for IITs, NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, and other centrally or state-funded technical institutes. All admissions to participating institutes are carried out through this single online platform.

NIT Tiruchirappalli, located in Tamil Nadu, offers admission to its programmes based on JEE Main scores. Along with entrance performance, Class 12 marks are also considered as part of the eligibility criteria. The institute is ranked 30th in the NIRF Rankings 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

To participate in counselling, candidates must qualify JEE Main 2026 (B.E./B.Tech) and secure a valid rank. They must also pass Class 12 (or equivalent) with at least 75% aggregate marks (65% for SC/ST/PwD) or be in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards.

Counselling Process

Candidates must register on the JoSAA portal (josaa.nic.in) to take part in the counselling process. The seat matrix and available programmes are published online before counselling begins.

Seat allocation is completely online and follows a fixed schedule. Candidates can select and arrange their preferred courses in order of priority.

Seats are allotted based on multiple factors, including category, JEE Main rank, choice preferences, and seat availability under different quotas. After allotment, candidates must pay the admission fee and upload required documents within the given timeline.

National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli offers the following B.Tech branches:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Computer Science and Engineering
  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering

The official counselling schedule for 2026 will be released on the institute’s website. Candidates are advised to strictly follow the reporting deadlines to complete the admission process.
