National Institute of Technology Karnataka ranks first in Karnataka engineering colleges with NIRF 17 position.
Engineering Admission 2026: Karnataka continues to play a major role in India’s engineering education sector, with top institutions performing well in the NIRF Rankings 2025, strong placements, and industry-focused programmes. Leading colleges such as National Institute of Technology Karnataka, M S Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Christ University, and others attract students through JEE Main and KCET scores from across the country.
The Central Seat Allocation Board (Central Seat Allocation Board) manages the joint counselling process for admissions into NITs, IIITs, IIEST Shibpur, and other centrally funded technical institutions. Alongside this, several private colleges in Karnataka offer high-quality engineering education.

The Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET), conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority, is used for admission to engineering and technology programmes in the state. Universities and colleges such as Visvesvaraya Technological University, Ramaiah Institute of
Technology, BMS Institute of Technology, and Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology accept KCET scores for admission.
M S Ramaiah Institute of Technology also offers Bachelor of Engineering programmes through KCET and COMEDK entrance examinations.
