BITS Pilani Hyderabad Invites Applications for PhD Program


Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Hyderabad campus, has begun the PhD admissions process for Physics, including both full-time and part-time options. Candidates with a minimum of 60% in MSc Physics or any branch of BE/BTech are eligible to apply for the seats. Admission to BITS will be based on a written exam followed by an interview.

Candidates who have passed ME, MTech, MPhil, NET, or GATE will be excluded from the entrance exam.

The last date to apply for the PhD seats is November 18. Shortlisted candidates for both written tests and interviews will be notified separately by the institute. Students who want to apply have to visit the official page —bitsadmission.com/bitsphweb/index.aspx.

The Institute in its notification has also mentioned the research areas for which they are looking candidates for, some of the topics include general relativity, black holes, astrophysicists, Quantum optics, biomaterial, biophysics, high energy physics, modelling Quantum devices among other research areas.

Those approved to the degree will be considered for a project or research assistantship of up to Rs 31,000 per month in the first year, with larger amounts in later years. Selected candidates will also be required to engage in the Institute's teaching and other developmental activities under mentoring.
