Endowed professorships, one of the highest distinctions in the academic world, are referred to as "Chairs." According to IIT-Bombay, the endowed Chair Professorship will foster academic research, support it, and make it better.

The new hire will be required to develop new academic programs and streamline those that already exist, take part in Google Cloud collaboration initiatives, and offer academic and technical leadership in the general area of their relevant subject. The metrics to gauge the effect of the Chair Professorship are anticipated to be decided jointly by IIT Bombay and Google Cloud.

Anil Bhansali, VP of Engineering and Head of India Development Centre, Google Cloud, stated, "Our aim is to provide academic and technical leadership in Generative AI and initiate and provide expert guidance in Research and Development programs supported by government agencies and by the industry."

"Such Chairs are an essential constituent to IIT Bombay's endeavor to attract the best and brightest students, researchers, and professors and create future leaders and innovators," stated Professor Subhasis Chaudhuri, Director of IIT Bombay.
