The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Head, Prof. T.G. Sitharam, Dr. Montu M. Patel, President of the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), Prof. (Dr.) Bhola Ram Gurjar, Director of the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh, Sushil Sudan, President of the Jammu & Kashmir State Pharmacy Council, and Dr. Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General, all attended the Additionally present was Chandigarh University Pro-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) R.S. Honourable Caroline Rowett, Deputy High Commissioner of the UK, commended Chandigarh University for allowing her and other eminent academics from around the world to participate in this momentous occasion. She stated: "Education is international, and looking around the room we have underlined that. Association and collaboration with international universities provide invaluable opportunities for students and faculty members to engage in cross-cultural exchanges, research projects, and collaborative degree programs. This integration of different perspectives and expertise leads to a more comprehensive understanding of global issues and fosters innovation."
She further added, "Education is the heart of the India-UK relationship and is rflected in the India-UK 2030 roadmap. Both countries are committed to working together through universities to enhance the exchange of ideas and organize networks of leading think tanks at universities and research organizations in both countries. Universities, important stakeholders, and partners are an important part of this relationship."
The International Faculty Development Programme 2023 at Chandigarh University intends to include global, intercultural, and international perspectives in higher education. AICTE's director, Prof. T.G. Sitharam. He cited the adage "Think Globally, Act Globally" and emphasized the value of relationships between different countries, groups of people, cultures, and institutions on a global scale. This program will open up new chances for institutions and academic researchers while also assisting Indian students in their global engagement.
Chancellor of Chandigarh University Satnam Singh Sandhu stated, "Chandigarh University's focus is to deliver an education of global standard and produce professional leaders for serving the society & realizes the need for equipping its faculty with the latest skills, knowledge, and methodologies for achieving the same. Hence, the university organizes the International Faculty Development Program every year with the involvement of international experts in the education sector to transfer global-level knowledge to the faculty and increase their potential to expand their expertise."
In the QS World University Ranking 2024, Chandigarh University attained an unprecedented overall position of 771–780, making it the top private university in India and ranking 20th overall among public and private universities, he continued. For the university, this is an enormous accomplishment.
