The National Medical Commission (NMC), an organization based in India, is pleased to announce that it has been granted the prestigious World Federation for Medical Education recognised status for an exceptional period of ten years.

According to a statement from the commission, this honourable distinction is proof of NMC's persistent dedication to the highest standards in medical education and accreditation.

Yogender Malik, chief of the media section at NMC and a member of the ethics and medical registration board, stated:  "WFME's recognition underscores that the quality of medical education in India adheres to global standards. This accolade empowers our students with the opportunity to pursue their careers anywhere in the world, while also making India an attractive destination for international students due to our globally recognised standards."

WFME is a global group that collaborates with the World Medical Association and the World Health group. WFME had been independently certifying medical colleges since its founding in 1972.

It has now made the decision to exclusively recognise a single accrediting body, and any approvals provided by this body will result in an institution's automatic WFME accreditation.

Additionally, it will promote academic collaborations and exchanges, support ongoing advancements and innovation in medical education, and enhance the international recognition and reputation of Indian medical institutions and practitioners.
